Okay, I talked to the Midlothian police last night, who have no jurisdiction in that area, so you shouldn't be getting hassled by them during the daylight hours.
They referred me to the Cook County Forest Preserve police department, and after they discussed it with the officers that patrol that area they confirmed that it is perfectly legal to enter Bachelor's Grove during the day. The woods surrounding the cemetery are Cook County forest preserves, and the cemetery itself is considered unincorporated Cook County.
If you are stopped by the police, please mention this to them, because it seems that both of the officers that had prevented me going back there didn't know this. They can call up the Cook County forest preserve if they need more information.
I've also asked about getting a permit for a night investigation, and I was given contact information for the police chief, so I will keep you all updated on that possible development.
Colleen - happy hunting!

Thats great...I thought that sounded too weird about being stopped in the day time because its a Illinois State forest perserve. I thought maybe there was major vandals going through there, so they were stopping everyone, but thats the only thing I could think of. There are all kinds of trails running through there.
I know of the night permits, but I think Dale said they were not issuing any because of the problems...maybe I am wrong, we need to call. I think we should let them know that we are a organized group that has been established for a while and we will be taking videos and pictures and exactly what and how long we will be doing it for. I will be surprised if we get one.

Too bad we don't have any police officers still in the group. It gave us a little more credibility with the police with these sort of things. Either way, I will be stressing to them that we are a non-profit organization of responsible adults that obey the law. If they wanted to have an officer there to verify, we would welcome their presence.
I'm very good with police departments. I was chairman of the last non-profit, and I dealt with them on a weekly basis. Hopefully we'll get the permit.

I had a feeling they really didn't have a right to keep Doug out. . . perhaps they were just trying to scare away any would-be ne'er-do-wells. Fortunately there is a police officer among the members of the Joliet Paranormal Society, so we'll have some extra street cred on the March 29th joint investigation.
