Check out this link on the Chicago Historical Society website. It also includes a link on how to research your home, which should prove helpful. This link is for their online resources but you can also go there to access additional research materials. It should be a great starting place for Chicago research. Most towns seem to have a historical society so that might also be a good starting place for research. chicagohistory.org/research/resources/architecture

I'm a huge Chicago history buff, and I'm planning on visiting the Chicago History museum in the new few weeks if anyone is interested in going.
Oh, and I LOVE museums - all kinds - so fee free to email me if you ever want a buddy to go with!

I too love museums as well, and would be up for going to the History Museum when you go Doug. Just let me know what works with your schedule.

It would be fun to get a big group of members together and go to the museum, don't you think? Although, I am sure it would be tough with everyone's busy schedules. -Jennifer

I'd be up for a museum outing also. I imagine that weekends would work the best?

Not only museums that I like, it's libraries also. I would like to visit the Harold Washington Library someday. If you have a date to meet, then I would like to go also.
I can even take the Metra downtown! ;D

all of you interested in history and architecture, Alex has a book on old Chicago homes and wanted to go walking in some of the neighborhoods. I thought maybe it'd be a good chance to maybe knock on a few doors and ask if they've had anything "unusual" happen there.
